Instructions:
This
update applies to all Pocket PC processor types. You
must already be running Version 5.0 or higher of Palm-Tech™.
Make sure that your Pocket PC is connected to your desktop PC before
beginning the installation.
Download
the file below and run it.
To
run the file, open Windows Explorer and locate the downloaded
file. Either double click the file or select it by single clicking
the file and press the 'Enter' key.

Version 5.15 includes updates
for Palm-Tech Inspector, Picture Album, Inspection Designer and
Front Office.
Version 5.15 add the following improvements
- Palm-Tech is now Vista ready.
- Added support for bmp, gif, tif and other image formats on the desktop.
- Improved the screen painting process on the Pocket PC to work more smoothly.
- Added the option to edit component location lines in Inspection Designer allowing you to decide whether to print, assign a different list, change the font, and assign a piece ID.
- Modified the print options window on the Pocket PC so that the choice to print the cover page is a separate option.
- Modified Grids so that they can now wrap to multiple pages.
- Added an additional set of abbreviations to the printed report when ratings keys are set to Full or Abbreviated and ratings are displayed as boxes.
- Added the option to import inspections from a storage card.
- Improved library synchronization to include use counts when synchronizing with the Pocket PC libraries.
- Changed the rules for "Print Only Lines that Have Data Entered".
If a line has no input pieces, it will automatically print assuming the category prints.
If a line has any input piece, it will be evaluated.

- Lengthened the Work Area pane in the Inspection Designer Work area to make it easier to copy, paste and drag lines.
- Picture Album now remembers the last folder you added pictures from and imported an inspection from and goes to the right folder for the different operations avoiding unnecessary navigation.
- Added the option to use abbreviations [abb] with descriptions in Inspector.
- Added new edit checks to run on components in the open library within Inspection Designer.
- Added the option to clear a selected "Add to Summary" choice for notes within lines that don't contain a rating.
- Modified the Preview window in Inspection Designer so that Page Breaks have a visual representation and do not cause overwriting in the pane when previewing the Printed category.
- Added the option to set a default picture size on the Pocket PC.
- Changed the Export to ASCII process to include grid and component location lines.
- Added a new tutorial named "Modifying templates with Inspector" that demonstrates how to create templates with Inspector.
- Modified the Rotate Picture process to rotate the decorations as well.
- Increased the allowable length for the text separator.
- When Save As Template is used in Inspector, if you choose to clear answer data, all special font selections in notes will now be cleared also.
- The Note, Disclaimer, Final Comments & Private Notes windows on the desktop now display using the same font the item will print with.
- When creating a PDF in Inspector, the PDF file is now placed in the same folder that the inspection file is in automatically.
- Allowed for longer library file names.
- Improved synchronization between screen and print prompts in Edit Piece properties windows of Inspection Designer.
- Skipped the step of template selection when there is only one template installed.
- Fixed the issue with pasting lines when the window is scrolled.
- Modified the cut, copy & paste process so that the window's scroll position is maintained when pasting lines or components, or deleting pictures.
- When backing up Program Settings, the program
remembers where the backup files are copied to after completion.
- Added and modified several windows on the Pocket PC to work better in
Landscape mode.
- Added merge field functionality to grids
- Changed the default behavior for disclaimers so that when you make a change to as disclaimer it is automatically set as the default for future inspections.
- Various other improvements
Version 5.15 addresses the following issues
- Modified Inspection Designer so that when you rename a component, the internal name and location line are renamed correctly also.
- The special line type & piece type selection windows will automatically close now when another window in the program is clicked on.
- Fixed the problem with disclaimer fonts not printing in the correct font at times.
- Fixed the problem with Final Comments lists not saving in some templates.
- Fixed the issue with tabbing through a long window not automatically advancing the window's scroll correctly.
- Fixed the issue with printing Cover pages in Picture Album on the Pocket PC.
- Modified the Save As Template option to not run if the template property "Do not allow changes" is set or if there is an edit password on the template.
- Addressed several issues with the Pocket PC running in Lansdcape mode
- Modified the Edit Image window to make it default to automatically maintain a picture’s aspect ratio unless specifically unchecked after opening the window.
- Modified Print Code to avoid issues with Component Locations lines not printing correctly in certain cases.
- Fixed pagination issues that were allowing an empty page at the end of a report.
- Fixed the issue with lines being dragged within a component and not reporting in the summary as being part of the component unless they were originally.
- Fixed the problem when exporting to ASCII with an option list that has nothing selected.
- Modified Inspection Designer so that it would not save templates when in demo mode preventing accidentally turning licensed templates into demo templates.
- Added additional notifications and protections to prevent problems in case versions get out of synch.
- The Pocket PC now takes the keyboard into account when calculating the size of the Rating dropdown preventing the dropdown from going off screen when in landscape mode.
- Fixed the problem where the hotspot would move as the window was scrolled on the Pocket PC.
- Fixed the problem when using Ctrl+Enter to cut a line when focus is on a text entry.
- Fixed the issue with the Pocket PC printing an extra page when printing Summary Only.
- Company names can now include the ampersand "&" character
- Fixed the issue in Inspection Designer that would occur occasionally when sending a template to the Handheld.
- Prevented dragging and dropping of component location lines
- Fixed the Microsoft generated error when deleting the last picture in the list in Picture Album.
- Fixed the problem with default picture size on the desktop defaulting to smaller than specified sizes in some cases.
- Fixed the issue with image resolution and size calculations when selecting a different image in the Edit Image window.
- Fixed the issue with added components not landing in the correct position when adding to the General Information category.
- Fixed the issue with selecting grid cells in a scrolled window.
- Fixed the issue with grid row titles that are too long to fit in the designated width not printing correctly.
- Fixed the issue with background shading and outlining of grid lines.
- Fixed the issue with spacing when printing a grid
using a special font.
- Fixed the problem with printing from the Pocket PC when in landscape mode.
- Removed Arial Baltic from the list of available fonts to prevent the issue
with PDFs when using the font
- Fixed the problem with Arial being the default font and not being
correctly selected when editing at time in the Select a font Window.
- Allowed for entry of decimals and negative numbers in Decorative
Lines
- Added the option to delete pictures form a report using the delete key.
This fixed the issue with deleting pictures on the Q1 and templates with lock
downs in place.
- Added a Remove button to the cover page setup window to remove logos onc e
they have been added.
- Fixed the issue with merge fields not working correctly for some piece
types in the HTML export.
- Fixed the issue with disclaimer colors not being saved.
- Added an option to copy library management backups to a different location
other than the last one used.
- Removed all references to "used XX times" in library lists on the Pocket
PC.
- Added notification that the program is unable to proceed when starting a new inspection if you select a template whose library does not exist.
