New Palm-Tech App FAQ

Here are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about the all new Palm-Tech Home Inspection Software app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets:

  1. Q: Is it be available in the Apple App Store and/or the Android Marketplace?
    A: Yes. It is available in both the Android Marketplace and the Apple App Store.

  2. Q: What does the app cost?
    A: There is no charge for the app to all current, version 6 users of Palm-Tech.

  3. Q: Does it work on any Android phone/tablet? What is the OS requirement for Android devices?
    A: The program works on most devices that run Android 2.2 or higher including phones and tablets. This covers almost all Android devices made since May 2010. NOTE: There are some Android devices running 2.2 or higher(mostly lower end devices) that have variances in features and capabilities, that will not run the Palm-Tech app.

  4. Q: Does it run on my iPhone/iPad?
    A: The program runs on the iPad, iPad2 and the New iPad. It will also run on the following iPhones: 3GS, 4, and 4S. It does require the iOS 4 or later.

  5. Q: If I am a current user, can I get to keep all my dropdowns and existing info?
    A: Yes. You can import your templates and libraries for use in the new app.

  6. Q: Can I take pictures with my device and have them added directly into the report?
    A: Yes! You have the option to take a picture on any line item in the report and the photo will be instantly added into the inspection file.

  7. Q: Is it fully functional? Are there things I can't to do with it?
    A: The software will allow you to go into the field and collect your inspection information using the easiest to use software created to date. It will not have the same flexibility that the handheld has, in that functions like creating templates and editing report formats will be done on the desktop version of the software and not on the app. However, the app takes full advantages of the newest technology and there is brand new functionality that is not available on other platforms such as swiping to move from section to section and the ability to take pictures and have them instantly added into the report. We will continue to add more features and functionality as we move forward.

  8. Q: How do I get information to and from my device?
    A: With the app comes the all-new Palm-Tech cloud drive. The cloud drive is online storage that you can use to transfer inspection files, templates, and libraries between your field device and any other computer using Palm-Tech. This is the easiest method to date for transferring files back and forth, and eliminates the need to use cords or wires of any kind when moving Palm-Tech files between computers!

  9. Q: Can I email the report from my device to a client?
    A: This will not be available with the initial, beta release, but will be available in the future.

  10. Q: Why is the initial release being referred to as 'beta'?
    A: The Palm-Tech app is being referred to as 'beta' because it does not include all of the functionality that the final release will have. Certain features, such as emailing reports directly from the app, will be added at a future date. The app is fully functional in that it allows you to conduct a complete inspection in the field, and it is being released in 'beta' because we have had such a great response from our users about the app, that we decided to make it available to all current users so they can take advantage of it. The app as it is now, is exactly what inspectors need and have been asking for, and will get even better in the coming months.
